Hay estereotipos que se magnifican cuando se trata de un astrónomo aficionado.

Some cliches are magnified when they refer to an amateur astronomer.

 

Crisis

Muchos astrónomos aficionados se creen invulnerables a la crisis de los cuarenta: no se compran un BMW, no se ligan a una mujer más joven y no se dan de alta en un gimnasio. Su argumento principal es que priman el desarrollo intelectual frente al material. Sin embargo, muchos  de ellos la pasan, vaya que si la pasan. Y como en la astronomía visual el tamaño sí que importa  hace que sea más obvio…

A lot of amateur astronomers think that they are invulnerable to midlife crisis: they do not buy a BMW, they do not flirt with younger women and they do not join a gym. Their main argument is that they favour intellectual growth over material one. However most of them go through them. And this is even more obvious as in visual astronomy size does matters…
